Thirst-quenching Eurasian griffon vultures fell into the camera trap of Surkhan State Reserve under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
For information: Surkhan State Reserve was established on September 8, 1986, in the Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region. The territory is home to 194 species of animals, 25 of which are listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan. In particular, the Eurasian griffon vulture is included in the Red Book of Uzbekistan, the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Appendix II of CITES in the status of a vulnerable and sedentary subspecies.
The Eurasian griffon vulture is a large bird of prey of the vulture genus. They nest in groups or colonies (2–20 pairs) on rocks. The bird lays 1 egg in February-March and incubates for 53 days. The chicks begin to fly in August.
