For reference: there are 24 protected natural areas in the Ministry's system today, the total area of which is 5,822,391 hectares. Of these: 12 are national natural parks, 7 are state reserves, 1 is a state biosphere reserve, 2 are state reserves, 1 is a biosphere reserve, and 1 is a nursery.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Ecology Iskandar Kutbiddinov noted that the head of state is implementing a number of measures to improve the field of wholesale trade.
"From 2018 to the present day, the area of protected natural areas has been increased by almost 4.2 million hectares. During 2023-2024, PNA was provided with 12 ORVs, 2 quadracycles, 440 camera traps, computers and printers, optical tracking devices, GPS, sleeping bags, tents, and other technical means. The monthly salary of scientific staff is equivalent to the salary of scientific staff of the Academy of Sciences. In addition, additional payments to the monthly salary are made from the funds of the Ecology Fund", said I. Kutbiddinov.
It was noted at the meeting that the main tasks should be to increase the effectiveness of protection, conduct research and monitoring in PNA, combat poaching, prevent illegal grazing and exploitation of reserve lands by local residents, as well as create conditions for the development of ecotourism.
At the same time, it was noted that the work carried out by managers in the regions is not at a satisfactory level. In particular, the zoning of some natural parks has not been completed, land plots are arbitrarily occupied due to the lack of an in-depth approach to the issue on the part of some managers, cadastral books on flora and fauna have not been formed, candidates who do not meet the qualification requirements were accepted to work as nature protection officers, embezzlement of funds and other violations were revealed in legislation. In turn, it was noted that the necessary measures have been taken in connection with these cases.
"For negligence and improper organization of work, the heads of the Nurata State Nature Reserve, the "South Ustyurt" National Park , the "Sudochye-Akpetki" State Reserve, and the Bukhara specialized nursery "Jeyran" were dismissed. The inspector of the personnel department of the Nurata State Nature Reserve and the Deputy Director for Scientific Work and Environmental Education of the "South Ustyurt" National Park have been brought to disciplinary responsibility. In addition, the heads of the national parks "Bobotog", "Aralkum", "Amankutan", "Zarafshan", "Central Kyzylkum" and "Aral Sea region" have been given a three–month probation period with the condition of radically changing their activities", said the Deputy Minister.
In addition, important issues that should be resolved by the end of this year were discussed. In particular, the program provides for the expansion of PNA areas to 14.2% by the end of the year, including the creation of the Ferghana National Natural Park with an area of 23.8 thousand hectares and the expansion of "Pap" National Natural Park to 35 thousand. It is planned to develop a program providing for the creation of nature museums in districts and cities of the republic, the creation of buffer zones of state reserves, national natural parks, nurseries, as well as the development of the size and procedure for charging fees for entry into protected areas of state reserves, national natural parks, nurseries and forestry.
During the meeting, reports on the work done in the field of PNA were heard. As a result of the meeting, instructions were given to promptly eliminate deficiencies, including improving the system of activities and creating a brand of PNA, strengthening the protection of territories, increasing the effectiveness of research and monitoring work, and implementing measures to prevent illegal grazing, poaching, and exploitation of protected lands by the local population.
