Snow-white desert running: Eco Marathon in Barsa-kelmes has attracted international attention

The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change in cooperation with the ProRun Running School and "Uzbekneftgaz".
This year, a record number of people took part in the marathon — 250 professionals and running enthusiasts from 11 countries, including Uzbekistan, India, Kenya, Togo, Sudan, Jordan, Spain, Canada, Denmark, Belarus, and Russia. Among the participants are Farah Majid, a Nike ambassador who popularizes running among Muslim women, and Ghani Souleyman representing Adidas. This diversity of participants highlighted the international status of the event and its growing popularity.
To organize the marathon at a high level and ensure the safety of participants, 200 people were involved in organizing the event. The program of the two-day event included accommodation in a yurt camp, a cultural program, an ethno show, a tour of the Barsa-kelmes salt marsh, a marathon with a distance of 42 km, a half marathon with a distance of 21 km, and races at a distance of 5 and 10 km.
It is worth noting that the marathon on Barsakelmes has become not just a sporting event but also a real celebration of the unity of man with nature. He proved that sport can be not only a competition but also a way to discover the wonderful world around us and contribute to its preservation. This marathon united running enthusiasts, ecotourists, and those who are not indifferent to the environment into a single movement for the preservation of unique places on the planet. The participants got a chance to show their strength and endurance while simultaneously supporting what is really important—our nature.
The organizers expressed the hope that the marathon on Barsa-kelmes will become an annual event, attracting more and more participants and attention to environmental issues and the preservation of unique natural sites.

In particular, on April 18, the "Aral Sea Eco Race" eco-marathon was held in Muynak, and on June 23, the "Aral Sea Eco Marathon" was held on the drained bottom of the Aral Sea. Such events are organized every year and play an important role in drawing attention to ecological issues and enhancing eco-culture.
