For information: The International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Basin has established partnerships with several international and local organizations and research institutes to conduct scientific research and implement projects. Agreements and memoranda of cooperation have been signed with more than 50 foreign and local organizations.
In particular, within the framework of the ICBA project, studies were conducted on the cultivation of 5 samples of the quinoa plant, 1 sample of the amaranth, Cenchrus ciliaris, Panicum antidotale (blue), 10 samples of grain sorghum brought from different countries, and various species of wild plants of the local flora (camel thorn, licorice, etc.).
In addition, in collaboration with Tottori University (Japan), research is being conducted on the selection of fast-growing species of woody trees, including Elaeagnus, Ailanthus, Salix arbusculoides, and Paulownia, for use in the creation of industrial plantations adapted to the Aral Sea region. Environmental tests were carried out on various samples of spring wheat, sorghum, corn, safflower, oilseed flax, African millet, Medicago, soybeans, mung bean, and other plants.
With the financial support of the ICBA International Center, a lysimetric research site has been created to collect more than 10 types of soil from the drained bottom of the Aral Sea and conduct scientific research.
