During the visit, the Director of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Region, B. Khabibullaev, and the CEO of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography signed an agreement on the establishment of a "Joint laboratory for the research, development, and demonstration of technologies of the Green Aral Sea region." It is worth noting that the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Aral Sea Region, located in arid zones, face similar environmental problems.
The laboratory will facilitate scientific exchange and innovative cooperation in the fields of climate change response, ecological restoration, water resource management, and agricultural productivity improvement in the Aral Sea region.
This laboratory will use the experience and technologies of China and Central Asian countries in key areas such as ecological restoration, highly efficient water-saving agriculture, food security, sustainable use of water resources, and conservation of biodiversity. Scientists will have the opportunity to conduct scientific research for integrated ecological restoration, focused on the green and sustainable development of the Aral Sea region.
It is worth noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his speech at the 3rd high-level forum on international cooperation within the framework of the "One Belt and One Road project", stressed the need to create a scientific and information platform for "green" knowledge and solutions based on the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region. In this direction, the center implements various projects in the fields of ecology, environmental protection, combating desertification, and agricultural development, and conducts multi-level partnerships with foreign partners and research institutes around the world.
