Uzbekistan's membership in the commission will make it possible to promote effective, fair, and environmentally friendly solutions based on the best available scientific data and conclusions obtained from international organizations and scientific experts.
Uzbekistan can mobilize and promote national initiatives in the international arena to set the global agenda on environmental protection and climate change through its membership in the IUCN Commission on the Climate Crisis.
For information: Uzbekistan became a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 2021. The IUCN is the world's oldest and largest conservation organization, uniquely composed of government and civil society organizations. It has observer status in the United Nations General Assembly and draws on the expertise, resources, and reach of more than 1,400 member organizations and more than 16,000 experts worldwide.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been actively increasing cooperation with the IUCN. Earlier, in February of this year, a representative office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature was opened in our country, which is located at the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University).
