The girls' teams have developed projects on improving the quality of education in schools, monitoring the air in Tashkent, reducing gender inequality and bullying, strengthening inclusion in our society, and protecting against fraudulent calls and theft of money from bank cards. Many projects are created using AI (artificial intelligence).
"Uzbekistan needs more female leaders, and participation in the Technovation program is a great opportunity for girls to try themselves in the field of technology and develop leadership skills. We are glad to see that the program has been running for 8 years and that Technovation is making a great contribution to attracting girls to the STEM field. Uzbekistan is aimed at ensuring gender equality, and our girls will actively participate in the promotion of scientific, digital, and social innovations in the country in the future", said Shahlo Turdikulova, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
The 12-week program included training modules on programming, marketing, business plan preparation, video making, and presentation skills. Trainings and seminars were held in Andijan, Namangan, Nukus, Tashkent, Ferghana, and online. The girls learned how to solve socially significant problems using technology and created innovative mobile applications in areas related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
"This season, thanks to the support of our partners, we were able to reach a large number of participants in various regions, and 83 teams have developed social mobile applications. For us, these are not just numbers, because each team has a lot of work from participants and mentors, research on social problems in their regions, and many girls have changed their plans and become interested in IT technologies and development opportunities in STEM," said Saida Yusupova, director of Tech4Impact NGO.
Within the framework of the event, the Technovation Girls teams (girls aged 8-18) from Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan, Nukus, and Ferghana demonstrated the results of their work on projects by presenting their social mobile applications at exhibition stands. Among the nominations are the best projects on the use of artificial intelligence, safe cities, gender equality, ecology, education and culture, healthcare, and equal opportunities.
"This competition is a vivid example of how modern technologies can become powerful tools for solving global problems. The projects of the participants not only demonstrate a high level of professionalism, but also emphasize their indifference to the most important social issues. In the field of sustainable development and ecology, these projects can help to realize the importance of environmental protection and teach how to apply environmentally friendly technologies in everyday life", said Temirov Anvar, Head of the Department of Ecological Education, Scientific Research, and Implementation of Innovations of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
As a result of the event, 10 Technovation Girls teams were awarded thematic nominations from the event's partners. The girls' ecology team received certificates and special prizes from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
