Its activities are aimed at improving the awareness of involved ministries, departments, business entities, and the general public about the implementation of environmental chemical conventions at the global and national levels. The IRC will identify, accumulate, and disseminate information on environmental conventions in the field of hazardous chemicals and waste management. It is also intended to help increase the republic's potential for its implementation. At the same time, a website has been launched for the interaction of the IRC with users at ecochem.uz (https://ecochem.uz/) .
The information resource center and website were created within the framework of the project of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) "Strengthening the institutional capacity of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the implementation of the Basel and Stockholm Conventions and GHS, as well as promoting accession to the Rotterdam and Minamata Conventions" in partnership with "HealthandEnvironmentJusticeSupporte.V." (Germany).
To achieve its goals, the IRC will form its fund of information and library resources on environmental conventions in the field of hazardous chemicals and waste management, complete it with scientific, reference, and popular scientific materials on chemicals and waste management on paper and electronic media, and replenish it with the latest chemical, medical, related, and other literature released by the leading republican publishing houses and publishing houses of foreign countries.
