World Post Day is celebrated every year on October 9th to commemorate the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, which was established in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland.
The official announcement of World Post Day was made from the rostrum of the UPU Congress held in 1969 in Tokyo, Japan.
Since then, World Post Day has been celebrated annually in many countries around the world. Postal authorities in many countries are taking advantage of this opportunity to introduce or promote new postal products and services.
