During the discussion, the parties addressed the current state of digitization in education, as well as the potential for training and nurturing young talent.
Minister Shermatov emphasized the Ministry's commitment to providing significant employment opportunities for the youth and establishing an environment that encourages their professional development within the country. He highlighted Uzbekistan's unique geographical challenges, including the absence of direct access to the sea, which necessitates prioritizing the rapid development of the IT sector. This strategic focus, he noted, plays a crucial role in increasing the export of IT services from Uzbekistan.
In addition, the Minister discussed the newly established certification system, developed in partnership with Oracle, which is designed to provide professionals with high-paying job opportunities upon completion of the course.
During the meeting, Ms. Srimathi Shivashankar commended the Ministry of Digital Technologies for its remarkable achievements in the ICT sector and praised the advanced development of Uzbekistan's IT Park.
Ms. Shivashankar delivered a brief presentation outlining the company’s core areas of expertise and proposed several avenues for cooperation. She emphasized the importance of youth education and skills development initiatives starting from the school level. She also noted that HCL Technologies is actively engaged with international organizations that could contribute to these efforts. Discussions included potential collaboration with Uzbek universities to enhance faculty development and train educators in specialized fields.
Minister Sherzod Shermatov expressed his strong support for the proposed initiatives, affirming his readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in their implementation. He introduced the "Enterprise Uzbekistan" project, highlighting its potential to attract foreign companies by offering a free economic zone and a regulatory framework aligned with international standards.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing the commitment to enhanced cooperation. Both sides expressed optimism about the potential for an effective partnership in the areas discussed.
