The CAREC Women's Business Forum and Gender Climate 2024 Award Ceremony, organized by the Asian Development Bank, focused on promoting women's entrepreneurship, advancing gender equality, and enhancing women's roles in combating climate change. The event brought together leading businesswomen from the region, as well as representatives of state and international organizations, to exchange experiences and insights.
The forum, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, featured Kamola Sobirova, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Technologies, who participated in a panel session dedicated to empowering women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through technology.
During the session, participants explored how technological innovations can positively impact climate change, including solutions to adapt to and reduce its adverse effects. Kamola Sobirova emphasized that women's active involvement in these areas contributes significantly not only to economic growth but also to sustainable development.
Discussions focused on addressing environmental challenges through technological innovation, highlighting the crucial role of women in leading new projects and creating sustainable solutions to combat the climate crisis.
Other sessions focused on case studies and the development of women-led climate resilience initiatives. Strategies to increase women's participation in climate-related decision-making were also explored.
