The 75th International Astronautical Congress took place in Milan, Italy, gathering over 11,000 participants from 120 countries, including heads of space agencies, international organizations, research institutions, and key members of the global space community. This year's congress was themed "Responsible Space for Sustainable Development".
Representatives of the "Uzbekcosmos" agency actively participated in plenary meetings, lectures, interactive seminars, and special sessions. They also visited the exhibition pavilion, where over 500 stands from 46 countries showcased advancements in space technology.
During the congress, the Uzbek delegation participated in the International Astronautical Federation’s leaders’ summit, delivering a special statement. Experts from "Uzbekcosmos" presented their scientific report titled "Innovative Methods of Remote Sensing of the Earth," which focuses on tracking changes in the Earth's surface. This project aims to address challenges in cadastre, seismology, and ecology through the use of optical-electronic and radar space imagery.
In addition, representatives of "Uzbekcosmos" held more than 30 meetings with leaders from the International Astronautical Federation, the “Intersputnik” organization, and other prominent foreign space agencies. A key outcome of these discussions was the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Japan’s “Ispace”, a company specializing in lunar exploration using robotic spacecraft.
The congress provided a platform for exploring new cooperation opportunities with various space agencies and private companies. Discussions included the development of Uzbekistan’s national remote sensing system, the technical design of space and ground segments, the launch of space vehicles, and specialist training for aerospace programs.
As part of the forum, representatives from Uzbekcosmos also engaged with the Space Agency of Azerbaijan to discuss proposals for establishing a national remote sensing system for Uzbekistan. Additionally, US-based SpaceX and the UK’s Surrey Satellite Technology expressed their willingness to provide expert advice on the development of Uzbekistan’s national space program. The Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan agreed to offer an initial training program for Uzbek specialists in aerospace engineering.
It is worth noting that during last year’s congress in Azerbaijan, Uzbekcosmos became a full member of the International Astronautical Federation, marking a historic milestone for Uzbekistan in the global space community.
