Uzbekistan and UNICEF Discuss Internship Programs to Enhance IT Education Sector

During the meeting, Ms. Castillo commended Uzbekistan's rapid development in various sectors, improvements in living standards, and the opportunities being created for youth in the IT field.
The discussions focused on the current state of digital education and the opportunities being created for youth, especially girls studying in IT.
Minister Shermatov emphasized the ministry's primary objective of providing youth with job opportunities to reduce migration rates and ensure high-paying jobs within the country.
He also emphasized Uzbekistan's limited access to the sea and the need for creating high-income jobs, noting that the IT sector is a major focus in addressing this issue. The active development of the ICT sector is contributing to the rapid growth of IT service exports.
Minister Sherzod Shermatov presented the concept of “Enterprise Uzbekistan”, a free economic zone designed to attract foreign companies through a supportive regulatory and legal framework.
Information was also provided about the "Digital Inclusion" project being implemented in cooperation with the World Bank.
In conclusion, the parties discussed organizing internship programs for aspiring female IT specialists and further enhancing IT education opportunities.
UNICEF representatives expressed their readiness to assist with international expertise in these areas.
