About the local government

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, public administration is organized by three branches of power:
Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The Legislative branch is the Oliy Majlis, consisting of the Legislative Chamber (150 full-time deputies) and the Senate (100 senators), which meets periodically to review and approve laws.
The Executive branch includes the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries, agencies, and regional and city hokimiyats. They are responsible for enforcing laws at the local level.
The Judicial branch, led by the Supreme Court, ensures compliance with laws and prevents violations by citizens and executive authorities.
District Hokimiyat
Ensures the implementation of national laws, presidential decrees, decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers, the District Council of People's Deputies, and the district hokim’s orders. It reports to the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Regional Council.
Administrative Apparatus
According to Resolution PQ-3407 dated November 28, 2017, the functions, rights, and responsibilities of the administrative apparatus are defined. It operates based on the Constitution, the Law “On Local Government,” and other legal documents.
The apparatus organizes council meetings, drafts documents, develops practical measures, and monitors implementation. Citizen appeals are handled in accordance with the Law “On Appeals of Citizens.”
