About the District Administration

Bektemir District is an administrative-territorial unit of Tashkent City. The district derives its name from the Bektemir Canal, which flows through its territory.
From 1960 to 1973, Bektemir was an urban settlement within the Urta Chirchiq District of Tashkent Region. Between 1973 and 1990, it held the status of a city. From 1981 to 1990, it was named after the statesman and public figure Nariman Narimanov (1870–1925).
Bektemir District was officially established as an independent district on February 27, 1990.
The district is located in the south-eastern part of Tashkent, outside the Big Ring Road, primarily on the left bank of the Chirchiq River.
The total area of the district is 3,494.2 hectares (34.9 km²). Its population is approximately 68,500 people, including 11,456 young residents and 34,900 women.
There are 23,974 families living in the district. At present, Bektemir District consists of 18 mahallas (citizens' self-governing communities).
The district has a total of 106 streets, including 14 main streets, 66 narrow local streets, and 26 dead-end streets. Major streets include Bektemir, Ohangaron, Husayn Boyqaro, Oltintopgan, and others.
