Andijan City Administration

Andijan is one of the oldest and most prominent cities in Uzbekistan, located in the eastern part of the Fergana Valley. The city serves as the administrative, economic, and cultural center of the Andijan Region. According to historical sources, Andijan has a history spanning more than a thousand years and was an important center of trade and craftsmanship along the Great Silk Road in ancient times.
Today, Andijan is considered one of the largest and most densely populated cities in Uzbekistan. Due to its location in the fertile Fergana Valley, agriculture, trade, and handicrafts have flourished here for centuries. With a population of over half a million people, Andijan is one of the country’s major economic centers.
The name of Andijan is closely associated with the great military leader, poet, and statesman Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. Born in Andijan in 1483, Babur later founded the Mughal Empire in India. For this reason, Andijan holds a special place not only in the history of Uzbekistan but also in the history of Central Asia as a whole.
