An Uzbek delegation led by Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov held a meeting with George Lim, Chairman of the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC).
The discussions focused on practical cooperation to further develop the institution of mediation in Uzbekistan and expand fast, effective, and reliable mechanisms for resolving international disputes before they reach court.
The parties agreed to cooperate in the following areas:
Joint training programs — organizing training programs on international commercial mediation for Uzbek specialists with the participation of SIMC experts;
Practical experience — enhancing the international-level skills of Uzbek mediators by involving them in actual cases handled by SIMC;
Regional centre — exploring the possibility of establishing a SIMC regional office in Uzbekistan;
Joint events — jointly organizing international conferences and forums aimed at promoting mediation.
Established in 2014, SIMC is today one of the leading institutions specializing in the resolution of international commercial disputes through mediation.
The goal is to expand opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs to resolve disputes quickly and effectively without lengthy court proceedings, while strengthening Uzbekistan’s potential as a hub for alternative dispute resolution in Central Asia.
