Within the framework of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, a bilateral meeting was held between Muzraf Ikramov, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Head of the National Intellectual Property Office, and Guy Pessach, Director of the Intellectual Property for Business Division at WIPO.
During the meeting, the parties:

discussed the commercialization of intellectual property in Uzbekistan and measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs);

highly commended the outcomes of the "100 New Brands" project implemented in March 2026 in the Samarkand and Bukhara regions in cooperation with WIPO, TÜRKPATENT and INTA. As part of the project, hundreds of entrepreneurs received practical guidance from international experts;

noted Guy Pessach’s positive assessment of Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms in the field of intellectual property, particularly efforts to integrate intellectual property assets into economic activity, support entrepreneurship, and promote national brands.

The parties also discussed prospects for introducing the IP Management Clinic programme in Uzbekistan, developing intellectual property management strategies for SMEs, and implementing the IP Business Center project.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to implement joint initiatives aimed at commercializing intellectual property assets and creating a modern business support infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
