Within the framework of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, a bilateral meeting was held between Muzraf Ikramov, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Head of the National Intellectual Property Office, and Yury Zubov, Head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation (Rospatent). Following the meeting, the parties signed a Joint Action Plan for 2026–2027.

During the meeting, the parties:

discussed priority areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in the field of intellectual property, as well as the implementation of joint projects under the existing Memorandum;

exchanged views on expanding cooperation in professional capacity building, joint training programmes, internships, seminars, patent examination, and the exchange of experience in patent administration;

considered the prospects for introducing the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) mechanism and improving the efficiency of patent application examination;

agreed to strengthen cooperation in enhancing public services in the field of intellectual property, developing digital solutions, and promoting legal awareness among businesses, scientific and educational institutions, and young inventors.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized that the signed Joint Action Plan would elevate practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia to a new level, facilitating expert exchanges, strengthening patent examination, enhancing professional capacities, and ensuring the consistent implementation of joint initiatives in the field of intellectual property.
