Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property

On the sidelines of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Muzraf Ikramov, Deputy Minister of Justice and Head of the National Intellectual Property Office, held a bilateral meeting with Kim Yong Sun, Minister of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting:
The current state of strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea in the field of intellectual property and prospects for its further development were discussed;
The project "Improving the Public Administration System in the Field of Intellectual Property in Uzbekistan," implemented within the framework of the KOICA program, was highly appreciated, and views were exchanged on its effective continuation;
The parties discussed improving mechanisms for assessing and compensating damages caused by intellectual property rights infringements, strengthening the capacity of specialists, and introducing advanced Korean practices.
The parties reached a final agreement on signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further expand institutional cooperation in the field of intellectual property, consistently implement joint projects, and continue exchanging experience.
