Uzbekistan’s Delegation Participates in the 68th Series of Meetings of the WIPO Assemblies

The 68th series of meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has commenced in Geneva, Switzerland.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan is taking part in this prestigious international event under the leadership of Muzraf Ikramov, Deputy Minister of Justice and Head of the National Authority for Intellectual Property.
On the sidelines of the Assemblies, the Uzbek delegation held a bilateral meeting with Habip Asan, Director of the Division for Transition and Developed Countries at WIPO.
During the meeting, the parties:
discussed priority areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and WIPO;
agreed to launch a joint project on the commercialization of geographical indications starting from the third quarter of 2026;
discussed the continuation of WIPO’s practical and expert support for Uzbekistan’s activities under the Lisbon Agreement, particularly in enhancing the qualifications of national experts.
Habip Asan also highly praised the successful organization of the final stage of the “IP for Women” project held in Tashkent in 2025 and expressed his appreciation to the Uzbek side.
At the conclusion of the meeting, WIPO reaffirmed its readiness to continue providing expert, methodological, and technical assistance in the development and implementation of Uzbekistan’s National Strategy for the Development of the Intellectual Property System for 2027–2030.
The parties agreed to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and WIPO and consistently implement joint initiatives in the field of intellectual property.
