Recently, various reports have been circulating on social media indicating the mass death of bee colonies in several regions of our republic, particularly in the Fergana and Surkhandarya regions.
In order to clarify the situation, specialists from the State Center for Diagnosis of Animal Diseases and Food Safety of the Republic, along with its regional branches in Fergana and Surkhandarya, collected samples from affected bees on-site and conducted diagnostic tests in veterinary laboratories.
According to the results of the tests, the death of bee colonies was not caused by infectious diseases. In other words, no infectious diseases were found to be spreading among the bee populations. At present, epizootic stability has been achieved.
The conclusions drawn suggest that the mass death of bee colonies in the Fergana and Surkhandarya regions may be due to the chemical substances sprayed on cotton fields.
During the investigation, it was confirmed that no viral or bacteriological diseases were detected, and no bee diseases have been observed in these regions for many years.
