As part of the international conference dedicated to the prospects of peaceful use of nuclear energy, a briefing was held for media representatives with Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, and Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, Director of the Atomic Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In his address, Rafael Grossi summarized the key outcomes of the event and emphasized the importance of collaboration among the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in nuclear energy. He noted that nuclear energy can play a decisive role in sustainable development by providing safe and efficient energy sources that enhance economic stability and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Grossi highlighted the need to adapt international experiences and best practices to national programs, ensuring access to technologies and knowledge that support the safe and responsible use of nuclear energy.

He placed special emphasis on the importance of educational programs and scientific collaboration, which contribute to the development of installations and technologies for the benefit of societies, underscoring the need to build regional partnerships. Grossi concluded his speech by addressing questions from journalists and discussing various aspects of nuclear energy applications, including its role in medicine, agriculture, and energy, as well as issues of safety and risk management.

The briefing continued with Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, who praised the relevance of the conference, noting the participation of 500 delegates from 45 countries. He emphasized that the event marks a significant step forward for Uzbekistan, demonstrating its commitment to achieving sustainable development goals and embracing advanced technologies. The conference not only showcased Uzbekistan's serious approach to nuclear energy but also attracted the attention of potential partners, particularly in the context of the innovative Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project.

Akhmedkhadjaev highlighted the signing of memorandums and agreements during the conference, emphasizing the critical importance of international cooperation in advancing nuclear energy. He pointed out its key role in ensuring energy security and addressing climate change. Expressing hope for continued dialogue and joint actions among participating nations, he stressed the need to build a solid foundation for the growth of nuclear energy in the region.
