At the direct initiative of the head of our state, systematic work is being carried out in our country to ensure environmental stability and mitigate the negative consequences of climate change. For this, within the framework of the nationwide project "Green Space," it is planned to plant 200 million tree and shrub seedlings annually, and by 2030, the level of greenness in the republic will be increased from 30% to 15%, and the level of forest coverage - from 8% to 15% (6.1 million hectares).
Within the framework of the national project "Yashil Makon," a total of 872 million tree and shrub seedlings were planted throughout the republic over the past 4 years. In accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 145-F dated March 11, 2025, within the framework of the national project "Yashil Makon," it is planned to plant 125 million saplings in the spring of this year, in fact, 136.9 million saplings were planted in accordance with the soil and climatic conditions of the regions, of which 8.3 million saplings of trees and shrubs were planted on forest fund lands.

For planting seedlings, 90 new water wells and irrigation systems with a length of 478.45 km were commissioned. 460 units of equipment have been assigned to areas where irrigation is impossible. In 2025, forestry enterprises are scheduled to prepare 30 million saplings within the framework of the project, and in the spring season, the first 14 million saplings of HIEG and shrubs were delivered. The rest is planned for the autumn season.
In particular, 406,372 saplings were delivered to schools and preschool educational institutions, 492,623 saplings to healthcare institutions, and 808,200 saplings to University's 1,024 mahallas. On 126.2 thousand hectares of the dried bottom of the Aral Sea and the Headquarter of the Aral Sea region, including 71.9 thousand hectares in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 23.3 thousand hectares in the Bukhara region, 16 thousand hectares in the Navoi region, and 15 thousand hectares in the Khorezm region, "green cover" was created. Protective forest plantations with an area of 256 hectares have been created in desert, mountainous, and foothill areas.
In the spring of this year, the specialized state forestry in the Shakhrisabz district, with the involvement of special equipment and mechanisms, planted 3.1 thousand trees on an area of 10 hectares, and in the foothill areas of the Sharaf-Rashidov district of the Jizzakh region, based on the experience of China and Turkey, the Jizzakh state forestry planted 12.7 thousand trees on an area of 28 hectares, creating terraced forests.
In 2024, at the expense of funds allocated from the state budget, a total of 215 "green parks" and "green public parks" were created in the districts and cities of the republic within the framework of the "My Garden" projects, developed based on public opinion through the "Open Budget" information portal. These activities are consistently continuing this year.
This year, 2025, within the framework of the "Green Space" project, 75.0 million tree and shrub seedlings will be planted during the autumn planting season. 257 "green parks" will be created, bringing their total number to 701, and 450,000 trees and shrubs will be inventoried. In cooperation with China's Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, 5 halophyte orchards will be established in Nukus, Arnasay, Mubarek, Karakul, and Karmana districts.
In addition, 2.7 thousand hectares of protective forest plantations will be created in desert, mountain, and foothill areas. In forest seed production, 1.5 thousand tons of seeds and 123 million seedlings and saplings will be produced. 115 thousand hectares of green spaces will be created on the bottom of the Aral Sea, and the area of forests in the Aral Sea region will be increased to 2.1 million hectares.
