The seminar was attended by Erkin Mukhiddinov, Director of the Forest Agency under the Ecology Committee; Ms. Sooyeon Jin, Forestry Officer at FAO headquarters; Ms. Liliana Annovazzi-Jakab, Chief of the Forests and Bioeconomy Section at UNECE; World Bank experts; and representatives of the mass media.
The seminar addressed issues related to the effective production of food on forestry lands, ensuring food security, promoting agroforestry, and improving the beekeeping sector.
Speaking at the event, Erkin Mukhiddinov emphasized the importance of increasing the effectiveness of medicinal plant cultivation in forest areas, developing the desert economy across the region, and creating income-generating and employment opportunities for local communities.
“Under the direct initiative of the Head of State, a number of reforms are being implemented in the forestry sector in our country. Particular attention is being paid to promoting agroforestry, establishing new pistachio plantations, developing the desert economy on a broader scale, and implementing the nationwide ‘Yashil Makon’ (Green Space) initiative,” said E. Mukhiddinov.
Importantly, this high-level event will contribute to strengthening environmental sustainability across the region, developing the eco-economy, expanding forest product production, and further enhancing international cooperation.
