Honoring the Memory of a Veteran of the Forestry Sector

The event was attended by Erkin Mukhiddinov, Director of the Forestry Agency; representatives of the Committee for Ecology and the Agency; international experts; heads and officials of organizations within the sector; forestry scientists; family members and relatives of the deceased; labor veterans; and representatives of the mass media.
Opening the event, Erkin Mukhiddinov, Director of the Forestry Agency, highlighted the many years of fruitful work carried out by the late Khodjimurod Talipov, emphasizing his contribution to the development of the forestry sector, combating desertification and land degradation, ensuring environmental sustainability in the country, and introducing innovative approaches into the sector.
“ the late Khodjimurod Mirazimovich made a significant contribution to increasing forest cover in the republic, promoting the rational use of forest lands, and preserving biodiversity. He was also a kind and respected mentor to many of today’s accomplished specialists in the sector. His good deeds serve as a true example for the younger generation,” said E. Mukhiddinov.
A video dedicated to the memory of forestry expert Kh. Talipov was then shown.
Speakers at the event recalled Khodjimurod Talipov’s outstanding human qualities and his valuable contributions to increasing the level of greenery across the republic, establishing new forests, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The participants also greatly appreciated songs performed by Gulbahor Erqulova, Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, celebrating noble human qualities.
For reference: Kh. Talipov actively participated in international projects implemented under the framework of the United Nations Development Programme, the Global Environment Facility, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. In particular, he served as the National Coordinator for the Uzbekistan component of the Bioversity International–UNEP-GEF project “Conservation and Use of Agrobiodiversity in Central Asian Conditions.”
He also directly participated in projects aimed at restoring landscapes in the Aral Sea basin, promoting sustainable use of drylands, ensuring sustainable management of forests and natural resources in mountainous areas, and supporting the “Yashil Makon” (“Green Space”) initiative.
Within the framework of these projects, 15 scientific and practical recommendations on the rational use of forest lands were developed and put into practice.
The scholar authored more than 100 scientific articles, practical manuals, and recommendations. He was also the author of the scientific and practical book “Fundamentals of Establishing Forest Plantations in the Mountainous and Foothill Areas of Uzbekistan,” published in 2022. The book continues to be used in forest establishment and afforestation activities to this day.
