Golibjon Kurbanov, Deputy Director of the Forestry Agency under the National Committee for Ecology, provided participants with detailed information about the process of establishing the paulownia plantation and the importance of the beneficial initiatives implemented to expand green areas.
“Until 2021, the area where we are witnessing these paulownia plantations today consisted mainly of steppe and open, barren land. Thanks to the efforts undertaken by the Andijan State Forestry Enterprise, cultivated forest plantations have been established in the area,” G. Kurbanov said. “These beneficial initiatives contribute to preventing land degradation, reducing the impact of abnormal heat, and mitigating the negative consequences of climate change by strengthening ecosystems. Certainly, if the heads of all forestry enterprises effectively implement this initiative in their respective areas, it will bring benefits in many respects.”
For reference, this paulownia plantation was established in 2021 on more than 100 hectares of land in the hilly area of Asaka District, bordering Marhamat District. Importantly, an irrigation system has also been established in the area, making it possible to water the trees.
Notably, as a result of the work carried out in a timely manner, these paulownia plantations are now gradually transforming into a truly green area of Andijan Region.
