The event was attended by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change; Erkin Mukhiddinov, Director of the Forestry Agency; Shi Guanhui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; industry experts; and representatives of the media.
Participants discussed measures to ensure environmental sustainability through combating desertification, increasing green coverage across regions, and implementing promising projects aimed at establishing new forests and restoring degraded forest ecosystems.
An exhibition showcasing China's achievements in combating desertification in Inner Mongolia was also organized. It highlighted China's experience in preventing desertification, restoring degraded lands, reclaiming saline soils, promoting ecological restoration, and developing the desert economy.
As part of the event, the Chinese delegation presented the documentary film “Green Silk Road: The Restoration of Sandy Deserts.” The film demonstrated the large-scale efforts being undertaken in Inner Mongolia to enhance ecological sustainability, as well as the implementation of the national “Three-North Shelterbelt Program.” The documentary and exhibition attracted significant interest and were well received by the participants.
During the presentation, the two sides also exchanged views on the application of water-saving agricultural technologies in joint projects, the introduction of scientific research and innovative solutions, and the promotion of knowledge and experience sharing among specialists in the sector.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, the parties outlined key objectives and future areas of cooperation.
For reference, during the international conference “China–Central Asia Cooperation on Combating Desertification,” held in Yinchuan, China, the delegation of Uzbekistan’s Forestry Agency signed two important cooperation agreements with Chinese partners on combating desertification.
