Information circulated on social media regarding the alleged felling of trees on forestry land in Sariosiyo District of Surkhandarya Region was promptly investigated on-site by officials of the District Department of Ecology and Climate Change and the territorial State Forestry Enterprise.
The investigation established that J.X., a resident of the Nilu neighborhood in Sariosiyo District, had illegally cut down trees within the forestry area.
Administrative measures were imposed against the offender pursuant to Part 1 of Article 79 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility.
It was also established that the individual shown in the circulated video is A.J., a forest ranger of the Hisor Specialized State Forestry Enterprise.
It is further reported that an additional investigation is currently underway to provide a legal assessment of the incident in accordance with the applicable legislation.
