World Bank representatives reviewed the implementation of the forest landscape restoration project in Uzbekistan

The foreign experts first became acquainted with the work being carried out in this direction in the Kashkadarya region.
According to the project plan, within the framework of the project it is planned to restore pastures on a total area of 9 thousand hectares in the territories of the Kashkadarya, Kumdarya, Kitob, Dehqonobod, Qamashi, Yakkabog and Shahrisabz state forestry enterprises of the region, implement water-saving measures and combat soil erosion in mountain forests on 4 thousand 900 hectares, support the natural regeneration of forests on 42 thousand 860 hectares, establish agroforestry on 3 thousand 100 hectares, create industrial forest plantations on 950 hectares, as well as establish medicinal plant plantations on 820 hectares.
Currently, in these forestry enterprises, work has been carried out to create “terraces” on 468 hectares, implement water-saving measures and combat soil erosion in mountain forests on 2 thousand 500 hectares, as well as install fencing with mesh on 4 thousand 500 hectares in order to restore pastures.
A. Asferacheyu gave recommendations to specialists on issues such as timely organization of activities, compliance with agrotechnical rules, and maintaining tree and shrub seedlings in accordance with the established norms.
Representatives of the World Bank also visited the Samarkand and Jizzakh regions and closely reviewed the work being carried out to ensure the sustainable development of the forestry sector within the framework of the project.
