For this purpose, an event was held in the Sabzipoya mahalla of Termez district. The event was attended by the Director of the Forestry Agency under the Ecology Committee, Erkin Mukhiddinov, the Governor of Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Qosimov, representatives of low-income families, and officials from relevant organizations.
The regional governor emphasized that the main goal of the project is to establish mulberry plantations and effectively use the inter-row spaces to provide the population with a sustainable source of income, and also gave necessary recommendations on the rational use of the allocated land plots.
Director of the Agency Erkin Mukhiddinov noted that within the project, 30,000 mulberry saplings will be planted on 10 hectares of forest fund land. In order to efficiently use the inter-row areas, 20 families will each be allocated 0.5 hectares of land. This initiative will contribute to increasing household incomes as well as mitigating the impacts of climate change.
For information, profitable agricultural products such as peanuts, melons, onions, and potatoes will be cultivated on this land, creating an opportunity to earn an additional income of approximately 50–60 million soums per year. To support this, subsidies for seeds will be provided to each family, and experienced farmers will be assigned to offer practical training in crop cultivation and care.
At the conclusion of the event, the Agency Director and the regional governor planted mulberry saplings, officially launching the project.
