During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in significantly reducing atmospheric carbon levels through afforestation initiatives in Uzbekistan, as well as in developing sustainable carbon credits.
The discussions focused on a range of pressing issues, including the efficient use of water resources, prevention of soil salinization, effective wildfire management, regulation of livestock grazing, prevention of illegal logging, and the establishment of systematic measures to combat diseases and pests.
It was also emphasized that engaging local communities in project implementation is crucial for creating new jobs and achieving a significant reduction in poverty levels.
The meeting put forward proposals to establish forests in areas with a high potential for sustainable tree growth, develop nurseries, design projects in line with internationally recognized carbon standards, attract investments from Korean companies to implement large-scale initiatives, and ensure socio-economic balance through ecosystem restoration in the regions.
Importantly, these efforts are expected to lead to key outcomes in the future, including strengthening local capacity, expanding international cooperation, and increasing access to climate finance opportunities.
