Agency for Increasing Forests and Green Areas and Combating Desertification

According to this resolution, new territorial state forestry enterprises will be established in Bulungur District of Samarkand Region, Sokh District of Fergana Region, and in the city of Tashkent, with the aim of expanding forest areas, ensuring efficient use of forest resources, and conducting a systematic fight against desertification.

In line with the decision, within two months the hokimiyats of Samarkand and Fergana regions and the city of Tashkent, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, and the Cadastre Agency under the National Committee for Sustainable Development of Urbanization and the Housing Market, will submit proposals to the Government Commission on transferring agricultural lands to the category of forest fund lands.

The land plots designated for the Bulungur, Sokh, and Tashkent city state forestry enterprises will be allocated on the basis of permanent use rights.

In addition, the expenses related to organizing the activities of the new forestry enterprises will be financed, in accordance with established procedures, from the local budgets of Samarkand and Fergana regions and the city of Tashkent, extra-budgetary funds, as well as other sources not prohibited by law.

Most importantly, forest-covered and green areas across the country will be further expanded, contributing to ecological stability in the regions of the republic and helping to mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
