A ceremony honouring the winners of the Republican Uzbek Language Olympiad named after Erkin Vohidov, Hero of Uzbekistan and People’s Poet, was held at the GREEN HILLS RESORT recreation centre in Bostanlyk district.
The event was held as part of the implementation of the objectives set out in Resolution No. PQ-308 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 20 October 2025, particularly within the framework of the initiative to organise this Olympiad on a regular basis for Uzbek language teachers from general secondary, specialised secondary and vocational education institutions.
The gathering was organised with the cooperation and support of the Tashkent Region Hokimiyat, UZREPORT TV and Nordic International University. It brought together renowned poets and writers, artists, teachers, young creative talents, advocates of spiritual and cultural values, and members of the wider public.
The event aimed to honour the great poet’s legacy and promote his rich literary heritage, while fostering young people’s love for the Uzbek language and strengthening their sense of patriotism.
Holding the gathering during the nationwide celebrations of Uzbek Language Day was no coincidence. The life, work and literary legacy of the poet, a true master of poetry, are closely associated with preserving the mother tongue and demonstrating unwavering dedication and respect for it.
The artistic programme featured a literary and educational evening dedicated to the poet’s work, poetry and music performances, as well as theatrical productions based on his works.
The ceremony also recognised the winners of the second Erkin Vohidov Olympiad in Uzbek Language and Literature.
The winners received cash prizes.
The award ceremony was attended by Jamshid Bobojonov, Deputy Hokim of Tashkent Region; Jurabek Ahmedov, Hokim of Bostanlyk District; and representatives of the organising bodies and relevant institutions.
