Today, September 2, the new academic year began with festive ceremonies at 910 general education schools across Tashkent Region.

On the occasion of the beginning of the new academic year, leaders at all levels in the region were assigned to general education schools and took part in the “First Bell” ceremonies.

During the ceremonies, a congratulatory message from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan addressed to schoolchildren, teachers and mentors across the country was read out. Students and teachers were congratulated on the beginning of the new academic year, while reforms being implemented in the education sector and the opportunities being created were highlighted.

In particular, Tashkent Region Governor Zoyir Mirzaev took part in the “First Bell” ceremony at General Education School No. 30 in Buka District, which was reconstructed and completed ahead of the new academic year.

The regional governor sincerely congratulated students, teachers and parents on the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the beginning of the new academic year, and read out a special congratulatory message from the President of the country.

Indeed, in recent years, under the leadership of the President, Uzbekistan has been laying the foundation for the Third Renaissance based on the noble idea that “New Uzbekistan begins at the school threshold, with the system of education and upbringing.”

Tashkent Region is also carrying out substantial work to develop the education sector, strengthen the material and technical facilities of schools, and create decent conditions for students.

In particular, over the past ten years, funding allocated to the education sector in the region has increased 6.2-fold, reaching 31.5 trillion soums.

As a result, the number of preschool education institutions in the region increased from 441 in 2016 to 2,433, while the proportion of children covered by preschool education rose from 27 percent to 74 percent.

In addition, 27 new schools have been built and 237 schools reconstructed. As a result, nearly 100,000 new student places have been created.

At present, particular attention is being paid to supporting talented and knowledge-seeking young people. A new assessment system has been introduced in 400 schools. This year, 25 graduates from Tashkent Region were admitted to leading higher education institutions ranked among the world’s TOP-100 universities.

In the new academic year, 61,850 first-graders in Tashkent Region stepped through the school doors for the first time. They were presented with Presidential gifts consisting of 13 types of school supplies.

The work and professional qualifications of teachers play an important role in improving the quality of education. Thanks to the opportunities being created, the number of teachers who continuously work to improve their professional skills is also increasing. Currently, 9,934 teachers in the region receive monthly salaries ranging from 6 million to 10 million soums, while 1,974 teachers earn more than 10 million soums per month. This figure has increased by 848 compared to last year.

General Education School No. 30 in Buka District, where the “First Bell” ceremony was held, was also constructed and commissioned ahead of the new academic year.

The new educational institution is designed for 330 students. A total of 12.2 billion soums was allocated for its construction. It became a worthy gift for students and teachers on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.

The school was built on the site of the old building constructed in 1976, in accordance with modern requirements. Currently, 209 students are receiving education and upbringing from 27 teachers at the institution.

During the event, the new school building was inspected and the conditions created for students were reviewed. The new academic year was officially launched to the sound of the first school bell.
