Tashkent regional administration

Today, Tashkent Region Governor Zoyir Mirzaev held a meeting with a delegation from Anhui Province of the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was attended by officials from the province, led by Wang Xuejun, Head of the Department of Agriculture of Anhui Province and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

Cooperation between Tashkent Region and Anhui Province has been developing steadily in recent years. In particular, delegations from Tashkent Region visited Anhui in December 2023, as well as in January and June 2024.

In 2024, agreements were signed to establish sister-region relations between Anhui Province and Tashkent Region, as well as sister-city and sister-district relations between Bozhou City and Piskent District. In June 2024, an official representative office of Tashkent Region was also opened in the province.

Today, there are 3,455 enterprises with foreign capital operating in Tashkent Region, including 784 enterprises with Chinese capital. Notably, 82 of these enterprises have been established with the participation of entrepreneurs from Anhui Province.

With the participation of investors from Anhui, USD 402 million in foreign direct investment was attracted to the region in 2025, while another USD 286 million was attracted during the first seven months of the current year.

During the meeting, alongside existing investment projects, particular attention was paid to establishing new areas of cooperation in agriculture.

In particular, proposals were put forward to implement joint projects aimed at introducing Anhui Province’s water resource management practices and modern water-saving irrigation technologies on a wider scale in Tashkent Region, as well as developing “smart” and environmentally friendly greenhouse complexes.

The prospects for establishing joint “in vitro” laboratories and nurseries for developing climate-resilient and high-yield fruit and vegetable varieties were also discussed.

The sides also expressed interest in cooperating on the testing and localization of Anhui’s agri-biotechnologies and biological products under the conditions of Tashkent Region, introducing new technologies in sericulture, including piloting the method of raising silkworms outdoors directly on trees.

Human resource development and scientific exchanges were also highlighted as important areas of cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of further expanding practical cooperation between Tashkent Region and Anhui Province, particularly in agriculture, investment, innovation and education, as well as enriching existing agreements with concrete projects.
