“THE RESULTS OF REFORMS IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS”
PRESS RELEASE
Large-scale efforts are being carried out in the Tashkent region to further improve the preschool and school education system, enhance the quality and coverage of education, and create an environment focused on modern knowledge and professions.
Currently, the region has 877 general education schools, 1 Presidential School, and 13 specialized schools. A total of 525,095 students are studying in these institutions, including 206,525 primary school students and 318,570 upper-grade students.
Expansion of Preschool Education Coverage
A total of 2,345 preschool educational institutions operate in the region, including:
- 574 state institutions,
- 21 departmental institutions,
- 138 private institutions,
- 47 non-state institutions based on public-private partnership,
- 1,565 family-based preschool organizations.
At present, out of 228,853 children aged 3–7, a total of 171,341 are enrolled in preschool education, bringing the coverage rate to 74.9%.
Among them:
- 120,066 children attend state preschool institutions,
- 51,275 children attend private and non-state institutions.
Quality of Education as a Priority
A total of 37,491 teachers are working in educational institutions across the region. Recognizing that the quality of education primarily depends on the qualifications of teaching staff, special attention is being paid to improving teachers’ professional competencies.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, 29,943 students will graduate from the 11th grade.
According to the results of the previous academic year:
- 6,545 graduates were admitted to state higher education institutions in Uzbekistan,
- 901 entered universities in neighboring countries,
- 6,895 enrolled in non-state higher education institutions.
Strengthened Career Guidance for Students
To guide students toward modern professions, 66 base schools have been established in the region.
In cooperation with local authorities, practical training has been launched in these schools in 94 vocational and information technology areas.
High Results in Foreign Language Education
Systematic efforts are also being implemented to improve the quality of foreign language teaching and enhance teachers’ qualifications.
Currently:
- 2,726 out of 3,530 English teachers hold international certificates (77.2%),
- 1,602 out of 2,293 Russian language teachers possess C1-level certificates (69.8%).
This figure has increased by 156 teachers compared to last year.
In addition, second foreign language instruction has been introduced in 60 schools.
Within the framework of the “Zo‘r klass” project, 5 teachers from the Russian Federation have been engaged in the city of Angren and the districts of Oqqo‘rg‘on, Zangiota, and Yangiyo‘l.
New Assessment System Introduced Gradually
In the 2025–2026 academic year, a new assessment system was introduced in an additional 261 schools, bringing the total number of schools implementing the system to 327.
For reference:
- 28 schools in the 2023–2024 academic year,
- 38 schools in the 2024–2025 academic year,
- 261 schools in the 2025–2026 academic year.
Achievements in Digital Education and Artificial Intelligence
This year, an additional 83 schools are planned to be equipped with modern computer technology, increasing the total number of equipped schools to 875.
For reference, in 2025, 138 schools were provided with modern computer equipment.
In addition, within the framework of the “Five Million AI Leaders” project:
- 144,172 students registered on the omp.aistudy platform,
- 81,399 students received certificates.
On the aileaders.uz platform:
- 31,244 students registered,
- 30,106 students successfully completed courses and obtained certificates.
According to these indicators, the Tashkent region ranks 4th nationwide.
New Projects to Increase Coverage
By the end of the year:
- 2 state preschool institutions,
- 5 public-private partnership institutions,
- 94 family-based preschool organizations
will be launched.
Additionally:
- “Early Development Centers” will be established in 4 districts;
- nearly 2,000 children currently outside the system will be involved in preschool education;
- 12 mobile groups will be organized in Bo‘stonliq and Chinoz districts;
- 80 compulsory one-year preparatory groups will be opened;
- 4 short-term groups will be established;
- 4 state preschool institutions will be created on the basis of pedagogical colleges, providing access for an additional 750 children.
As a result of these efforts, preschool education coverage in the region is planned to reach 73.5%.
The comprehensive reforms being implemented in the education sector of the Tashkent region are serving to equip the younger generation with modern knowledge and skills, enhance their intellectual potential, and develop them into competitive professionals.
