President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was reported on the results achieved in the field of sports and the progress of preparations for international competitions.
In our country, sport is very popular, especially among young people. The further widespread adoption of physical culture is facilitated by the “Olympiad of Five Initiatives”, organized according to the idea of the head of our state.
Last year, 6 million 400 thousand young people took part in the Olympiad competitions. In the mahallas of remote and hard-to-reach areas, where the sports infrastructure is insufficiently developed, 449 standard sports grounds were built.
During the five-stage mass competition, about 12 thousand talented young athletes were selected and entered sports schools. Each school is specialized in a specific sport and has been provided with new equipment and equipment. As a result, the rate of provision of national teams with athletes also increases.
The necessary measures are being taken to prepare professional athletes for international competitions. Currently, our compatriots are performing at the IV Winter Olympic Games among juniors in South Korea.
As you know, this year the most prestigious competitions of the four years – the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games – will be held in Paris. At the moment, our athletes have won 17 and 34 trips, respectively. All conditions have been created for participation in the fight for licenses and thorough preparation for competitions.
Preparations are also underway for the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games, which will be held in Tashkent in 2025. The construction of the Olympic village is in full swing.
This year, as part of social programs, the construction and reconstruction of 42 sports facilities is planned. By expanding the scope of the Five Initiatives Olympiad, it is planned to increase the number of participants to 7 million. It is planned to open more than a thousand additional groups in sports schools.
The head of state gave instructions on developing sports education and using advanced approaches in preparing athletes for international competitions.
