Surkhandarya Region and China’s Wanlin Group Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

Today, Governor of Surkhandarya Region Ulugbek Kosimov received a delegation from the People’s Republic of China led by Li Yantao, Head of “Wanlin Group Limited”.
At the beginning of the meeting, it was emphasized that the multifaceted strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China continues to develop steadily thanks to the sincere and friendly relations between the leaders of the two countries, creating new opportunities for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation.
In this regard, it was noted that investment projects of Chinese companies in Surkhandarya Region are of great importance not only for the development of the regional economy, but also for expanding production capacities, logistics networks and export chains.
During the meeting, a presentation was held on the investment projects that “Wanlin Group Limited” plans to implement in the region.
In particular, the parties discussed a project to construct a modern water-based cultural and tourism complex — an aquapark — on a 20-hectare site in the Navruz mahalla of Termez District.
The parties also considered the implementation of large-scale investment projects in agriculture, food processing, logistics, cold-chain infrastructure and the development of cross-border trade.
Following the negotiations, the administration of Surkhandarya Region and “Wanlin Group Limited” signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation.
Under the agreement, the Chinese company plans to introduce modern agricultural technologies and water-saving irrigation systems across 20,000 hectares in Surkhandarya Region, as well as cultivate agricultural products using high-yield varieties and elite seeds.
In addition, the agreement provides for the implementation of major projects for food processing in accordance with “Halal” standards, the establishment of a logistics industrial park, the development of modern cooling and storage infrastructure, the expansion of cross-border trade, and the construction of a water-based cultural and tourism complex — an aquapark.
