At the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a system of interregional exchange of experience and practical support for assigned areas has been introduced to promote the socio-economic development of districts in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Within this framework, Takhiatash District of the Republic of Karakalpakstan has been assigned to Surkhandarya Region.
Yesterday, Ulugbek Kosimov, Hokim of Surkhandarya Region, visited Takhiatash District and reviewed the work underway, the area's existing potential, and promising development projects.
The visit began with an inspection of the Takhiatash Plant for the Production of Metal Structures and Non-Standard Equipment, located in the Markaziy mahalla and operated by the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company. Despite the enterprise's significant production potential, its existing capacity is not being fully utilized. Currently, only 10 jobs have been created at the facility.
A proposal was considered to launch the production of reinforcement bars and metal profiles through the processing of secondary metal at one of the two large complexes located on the enterprise's premises. The implementation of the project is expected to create 130 new jobs and provide permanent employment opportunities for more than 100 young residents of Takhiatash.
The regional governor instructed responsible officials to ensure the efficient use of the enterprise's production capacity, bring unused areas into economic circulation, and create new jobs.
The delegation then reviewed the activities of Surxon Taxiatash Tekstil LLC. Established in cooperation with entrepreneurs from Surkhandarya Region, the enterprise has a total investment value of $9.7 million and currently provides 200 jobs. Since the beginning of the current year, the company has exported $600,000 worth of products to the Russian Federation.
A presentation was also held on investment projects currently being implemented in the district as well as those planned for the future. It was noted that in previous years, eight projects with a total value of $11 million were launched in Takhiatash District with the participation of entrepreneurs from Surkhandarya Region. These projects covered the textile, greenhouse, and construction sectors and resulted in the creation of 345 new jobs.
Projects aimed at replacing old barrack-style housing in the Markaziy mahalla with modern multi-storey residential buildings, establishing trade and service facilities, and developing convenient social infrastructure for residents were also reviewed.
At the same time, the ongoing work at the Creative Park established in the mahalla was examined. Projects presented at the site included a model of the Sangardak Waterfall, concert and cinema halls, a cultural center, and other cultural and creative facilities.
At the end of the day, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Working Group of the Surkhandarya Regional Hokimiyat in Takhiatash District. The meeting was attended by the district hokim, responsible officials, mahalla chairpersons, and deputy hokims of the cities and districts of Surkhandarya Region assigned to the district's mahallas.
The meeting reviewed the issues examined during the day, existing opportunities, and identified challenges. Specific tasks, implementation deadlines, and practical measures were determined for responsible officials in each area.
