An international academic exchange seminar was held at Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology in China, bringing together leading scholars from higher education institutions in China, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
The event was attended by a delegation led by Professor Rasul Turaev, Rector of Termez State University of Engineering and Agrotechnologies, as well as Professor Shahnoza Kuldasheva, Vice-Rector of Termez State Pedagogical Institute.
Professor Shahnoza Kuldasheva delivered a presentation entitled “Preventing and Combating the Risks of Sandstorms in Surkhandarya Region and the Hayraton–Mazar-i-Sharif Transboundary Area.”
The presentation analyzed the factors contributing to the occurrence of dust storms, sandstorms, and the “Afghan wind,” as well as their impact on the environment and public health.
In particular, an environmental assessment was conducted of 150,000 hectares of sandy areas along the Hayraton–Mazar-i-Sharif corridor. The study of the “Afghan wind,” together with the author’s patented “Air Purifier” device and sorbents developed based on international experience, was highlighted as having important scientific and practical value.
As part of the seminar, Termez State University of Engineering and Agrotechnologies officially joined the International Alliance of Silk Road Universities of Architecture and Technology.
The participants also reached agreements on developing joint research in green construction, low-carbon materials, solar energy, and water-saving technologies, as well as expanding academic exchange, internships, and grant projects.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to implement joint research and practical projects focused on transboundary dust storms, industrial dust, and air flows.
