Tourism Cooperation

Important meetings and negotiations aimed at developing interregional tourism cooperation took place during the international forum and tourism exhibition “Khatlon — a Land of Civilizations and Tourism”, held in Khatlon Region of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The discussions focused on strengthening tourism ties between the ancient Tajik city of Kulob and Shakhrisabz, increasing visitor flows in both directions and establishing sister-city relations in the future.
Pirzoda Dilovar, Mayor of Kulob, and G‘olib Allaberdiyev, Head of the Kashkadarya Regional Tourism Department, took part in the negotiations. They exchanged views on the tourism potential, cultural heritage and cooperation prospects of the two areas.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop and approve a dedicated roadmap to take cooperation between Shakhrisabz and Kulob to a new level. The parties also agreed to sign relevant documents on sister-city status during the Mayor of Kulob’s forthcoming visit to Shakhrisabz in the coming days.
A further dialogue by videoconference involving the mayors of Shakhrisabz and Kulob was also planned before the end of June of the current year.
These initiatives will further strengthen tourism, cultural and humanitarian ties, investment cooperation and friendship between the two areas. They will also help enhance the standing of Shakhrisabz and Kulob as tourism centres in Central Asia.
