Benefits for Persons with Disabilities
Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities
Persons with disabilities receive the following types of social assistance: cash payments, including pensions, allowances and one-off payments; technical rehabilitation aids, hearing and visual assistance technology and other aids, including wheelchairs, prosthetic and orthopaedic devices, special-print publications, sound-amplifying devices and alarms, subtitled or sign-language-interpreted videos, and vehicles; medical, social, vocational and physical rehabilitation and household services; transport services; and medicines.
Social assistance is provided by local authorities, healthcare and public education bodies and other public bodies on the basis of conclusions issued by medical and social expert commissions.
Persons with disabilities who have partly or fully lost the ability to care for themselves and require continuous assistance receive services at home and in specialized residential institutions of authorized public bodies, in accordance with the law. These institutions also provide appropriate living conditions, healthcare, work activities and recreation.
Persons with disabilities resulting from work-related injury or occupational disease caused by the employer are provided with technical rehabilitation aids and special transport, where medically indicated, at the employer’s expense regardless of the organization’s legal form.
Local authorities may establish additional social guarantees for persons with disabilities using local budget funds.
Persons with disabilities are entitled to free sanatorium treatment, medicines, medical care products and special therapeutic foods for children with disabilities.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan determines the sanatorium treatment procedure and the lists of medicines, medical care products and special therapeutic foods for children with disabilities.
