The National Anti-Corruption Council, chaired by Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, held a traveling meeting today in the Saykhunabad district of the Syrdarya region. The state of work on combating crime and corruption in the region was critically discussed.
The republican interdepartmental working group conducted a survey of more than 50 facilities and neighborhoods in the areas of healthcare, employment, banking, preschool and school education, cadastre and construction in the city of Gulistan, Syrdarya, Saykhunabad, Mirzaabad and Khavos districts, and found that the prevention and fight against corruption were not sufficiently established.
For example, cases of embezzlement of budget funds, concealment of information about vacancies, and familiarity with acquaintances are still common in the activities of healthcare, preschool and school education institutions. We have also witnessed the slow pace of work on identifying and eliminating illegal constructions. Linking the procedures for issuing loans and recommendations by banks to clear legal bases, digitizing monitoring, strengthening public and internal control, and raising the legal awareness of the population remain urgent tasks,
— said A. Burkhanov.
During the study, it was revealed that 7 managers of the region were operating in business entities on a founding or management basis, and an administrative report was drawn up against them and sent to the appropriate court.
A proposal was made to the National Council to increase the personal responsibility of officials and take strict measures against the relevant leaders for the identified shortcomings.
Information was heard from the heads of the sectors responsible for the issues mentioned.
At the end of the meeting, specific practical measures were determined to transform Saykhunabad district into a “Corruption-Free Zone”.
