From the very first days, the International Pottery Center hosted an exhibition and fair featuring unique works of local and foreign artisans. Guests toured the two-story potters’ houses, workshops, and shops, giving high praise to the rich experience of local craftsmen. Additionally, cultural events such as folk festivities, pilaf competitions, craft exhibitions, and concerts in the district recreation park created a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
Among the key cultural highlights were the grand opening of the Rishtan Traditional Pottery Museum and the presentation of the book “Handicrafts of Uzbekistan.” The ceremony was attended by Khayrullo Bozorov, Governor of Fergana region, Saad al-Qaddumi, President of the World Crafts Council, Rasuljon Mirzaakhmedov, Chairman of the Republican “Hunarmand” Association, as well as renowned foreign artisans. Discussions focused on the rich history of handicrafts and ways to preserve and further develop national traditions.
As part of the forum, an international scientific-practical conference on “Preserving and Developing Traditional Pottery: Challenges and Solutions” was held. Experts discussed integrating pottery with modern technologies, teaching the younger generation the secrets of this ancient craft, and reviving the tradition of master-apprentice mentorship.
Theatrical performances such as the Belarusian play “The One-Handed Potter,” folk ensemble shows, and a unique ceramic composition recreating Bukhara’s famous “Minora-i Kalon” monument became the most spectacular moments of the forum, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
At the closing ceremony, the most talented artisans were awarded in several categories, including “Heir of an Ancient Dynasty,” “Master Reviving Traditions,” “Best Potter,” “Most Talented Young Potter,” and “Most Skilled Female Potter.” Winners received diplomas and memorable gifts.
The 2nd International Pottery Forum further strengthened Rishtan’s status as not only a national but also an international hub of pottery art. The event served as an important platform for developing handicrafts, fostering cultural cooperation, and promoting friendship among nations.
