In accordance with the relevant order of the Minister of Emergency Situations, September has been declared the month of the nationwide “Fire Safety Awareness” campaign across the Republic.

The primary purpose of the campaign is to promote a culture of compliance with fire safety regulations among the population, prevent fires, and protect the lives, health and property of citizens from fire hazards.

As part of the campaign, Paxtachi District will also carry out extensive public awareness, outreach and preventive activities aimed at preventing fires.

First, fire safety awareness activities will be conducted in residential households.

Residents will be informed about the rules for the safe use of electrical appliances and power networks, gas stoves and heating devices.

In particular, residents will be advised not to use faulty electrical wiring, not to connect multiple high-power appliances to the electrical network simultaneously, not to use makeshift electric heaters, and not to leave gas appliances unattended.

Particular attention will also be paid to the importance of not leaving children unattended near sources of fire or matches.

Second, preventive measures will be strengthened in mahallas.

Door-to-door visits and awareness activities will be conducted, households with a high risk of fire will be identified, and relevant recommendations will be provided to address any identified shortcomings.

These activities will be organized in cooperation with mahalla activists and the responsible organizations.

Third, special attention will be paid to the safety of citizens requiring particular care and social assistance.

Targeted preventive activities will be conducted with elderly people living alone, persons with disabilities, large families and citizens living in conditions associated with a high risk of fire.

Fourth, citizens will be informed about the correct course of action in the event of a fire.

Citizens will be advised to immediately call the emergency short numbers 101 or 112, clearly state the address of the incident, evacuate people to a safe area whenever possible, and avoid putting their own lives at risk.

Fire prevention is the responsibility not only of the emergency services, but also of each and every one of us.

Even a simple act of carelessness may cause a fire, endanger people’s lives and health, and result in significant material damage.

We therefore urge everyone to strictly observe fire safety regulations, take a responsible approach to safety requirements at home and in the workplace, and actively participate in the preventive activities conducted as part of the nationwide “Fire Safety Awareness” campaign.
