Nukus City Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan

On September 19, a meeting on the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan was held in Nukus under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In recent years, significant funds have been allocated for the development of the region, and special benefits and conditions have been created. Income, land, and property taxes were doubled, electricity tariffs for industrial enterprises were reduced by 15 percent, and the social tax rate was set at 1 percent. Last year, $1.7 billion in investments were attracted. This is 22 times more than in 2021. In the first half of this year, the economy grew by 10.2 percent, ranking Karakalpakstan second after Tashkent.

Stable energy supply plays an important role in these changes. In recent years, new capacities with a capacity of 860 megawatts have been commissioned. Due to the construction of wind farms in Beruni and Karauzyak, the share of "green" energy has reached 23 percent. Electricity production increased 4 times and amounted to 5 billion 330 million kilowatt-hours.
