MEMORANDUM

Nukus has marked the beginning of the new academic year with a renewed focus on engaging young people in cultural and educational activities. Driven by the initiative of the city administration, a new cooperation memorandum has been signed between the Nukus City Municipality, the Department of Preschool and School Education, the Berdakh Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theatre and the Karakalpak State Youth Theatre.
The agreement, implemented from the very start of the school year, aims to strengthen the cultural exposure of students and enrich the city’s creative landscape. Since early 2024, more than 20,000 schoolchildren have attended theatre performances as part of the programme, which aligns with educational goals and encourages students’ intellectual and artistic development.
The initiative also places a strong emphasis on inclusivity. Special measures introduced by the city administration ensured that children from low-income and vulnerable families could attend performances free of charge or at discounted rates — giving every child the chance to experience theatre art.
City officials say the purpose of the initiative is clear: to broaden young people’s cultural horizons, nurture their appreciation for the arts and instill respect for shared human values.
As the school year gets underway, Nukus begins a new chapter — one that strengthens youth development and expands access to cultural life across the city.
