CORRUPTION IS A BARRIER TO SOCIETY'S DEVELOPMENT.
Corruption is one of the most serious problems in the world today. It not only hinders economic growth but also significantly harms human rights and the environment of justice and trust in society.
From the very first days of his activity as head of state, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev defined the fight against corruption as one of the priority areas of state policy. In his 2016 election program, he identified the decisive fight against this scourge, the prevention of offenses, and ensuring transparency and openness in government bodies as priority tasks.
One of the first legal steps in this direction was the Law "On Combating Corruption," adopted on November 24, 2016, and signed by the President on January 3, 2017. This law, for the first time, clearly defines corruption:
"Corruption is the abuse of a person's position or official status by individuals or other persons.
