The Minister congratulated Hans Kluge on his re-election as WHO Regional Director for Europe for a new term and wished him success in his important role. He also expressed gratitude for the WHO’s strong focus on Central Asia, including Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed strengthening cooperation in maternal and child healthcare, preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases, and developing primary healthcare services.

A key topic was organizing a subregional conference on maternal and child health for Central Asian countries, to be held in Tashkent with the support of the WHO. According to the Ministry of Health, this major conference will help identify barriers to implementing and institutionalizing essential measures for improving healthcare quality in this field.
